Literally translating to 'storm nut,' the new Assos hL.sturmNuss Pants are truly for the psychopathic cyclist that'll ride through anything. Waterproof, windproof, and on a completely different level of breathable, the hL.sturmNuss Pants are a summary of everything that we love about Assos -- impeccable, innovative quality that you can't find anywhere else.Like any new Assos product, the hL.sturmNuss pants are a complete game-changer, and they owe their very existence to the new Triton fabric. Straight out of the Assos Textile Laboratory (how big is the Assos building anyways?), the new material is as close to a sentient being as we've ever experienced. Why do we say this? Because the pants adapt to temperature. Let us explain. Triton was developed by Assos to provide the best ratio of impermeability-to-vapor permeability ever in a cycling pant. Basically, this ratio is integral to eliminating fussy humidity and over-sweating in rain wear. The fabric features a flexible membrane barrier that lets less body heat escape when the internal temperature is low, and when the internal temperature starts to rise, the pores of the membrane open to let the vapor escape. This means that the protected membrane is constantly regulating your temperature in order to provide a consistent level of warmth. All the while, the pants are keeping external moisture sources out and keeping sweat from building up, or remaining, on the skin. Dry from the inside out. Finally. We're sure that you're as impressed as we are, but of course, Assos didn't stop there. The hL.sturmNuss features different weights of the Triton fabric throughout the pants. On the center panels, where your legs are most affected by the elements, Assos placed the heavier, Triton 2019 material. At the side panels, where flexibility and elasticity are more crucial, Assos positioned the lighter and malleable Triton 0017. Together, you don't have to sacrifice comfort and movement for element protection. For even further protection, Assos placed rear-positioned ankle zippers that run from the hems to about midway up the calves. Under the zip-closure, you'll find Assos' signature ankle grippers. At the waist, the hL.sturmNuss makes use of what Assos calls its half-short specific waistband. As the name its suggests, this closure systems fits, looks, and feels the same as your favorite pair of Assos shorts -- minus the chamois. Assos has also taken the precaution to tape the critical seams of the pants. Now, seepage has been completely thwarted. As impressive as the Assos fabric lineup and features are, the true Assos signature is in its precision fit. Utilizing what Assos calls its Advanced Ergonomic Pattern Design (AEPD) racing cut, the hL.sturmNuss benefits from the most thought out designing process in the business. Assos is the first to tell you that high-end materials mean nothing if the cut is bad. That's why it's spent a maddening amount of time on two points of study -- how the body is shaped, and how it
