at Online Favorite Ride: Brattleboro - Wardsboro - Mt. Snow - South Newfane Bike Setup: Surly Pacer, full Ultegra (to be replaced with Campy the second I get done with grad school), Mavic Open Pro's, Selle Italia Turbomatic, Easton EC70 Seatpost, 3ttt THE Stem/Handlebar, Look Somethingorother pedals, SRAM chain. Summary: Three words: No. Perceptible. Flex.
The bends are comfy, and in comparison with my old EA70, it's not perceptibly heavier. But then, either held by itself is not a noticible mass, so youo could hold one up for a while, look away and forget that it's there. Stand to accelerate and the bike just goes. Strengths: Stiff = Good.
More weight = stiffer (not necessarily, strictly speaking, but practically, that's how it is, whatever the marketing people want to tell you.
More weight = cheaper.
Therefore,
Less money = better handlebar.
Obviously, this theory has its limitations, but practically speaking, I think I'm onto something here. Weaknesses: None. Similar Products Used: Easton EA70 (traditional diameter)
