Strengths: Flip up pad feature.
Being a solid bar, instead of 2 separate bars, lets you put more torque to the pedals.
Low mounting feature.
Priced low enough to justify replacing.Weaknesses: Springs are weak and fail under 1K miles.Bottom Line: I have used these for 9 years and love the spring loaded armrest feature. Without it, my knees would hit the pads. I have had the usual broken spring problem that everyone else has had, but have started using a lightweight bungee cord underneath the pads. It looks like it belongs there and pops the pads up quickly. Plan to replace the bars about every 3 years, or the pin area will wear out and break off.

Strengths: Good design, works well.Weaknesses: noneBottom Line: After 1 year and 1500 mi., I have had no problems. I solved the rattle with a dollop of chassis grease on the pivots. (work the grease in). Overall hard to beat the set up. The lube will also slow the wear on the pins,

Strengths: Inexpensive, entry level alternative. Pretty comfortableWeaknesses: The pins holding the flip-up mechanisms together, obviously. Noise/rattling on bumpy roads when not in aero position.Bottom Line: After one of the flip down armrests fell off at 20mph in the middle of an intersection, I decided to check out the reviews here, and was amazed to find similar stories. The pin holding the armrest just fell out, allowing the entire mechanism (two springs and all) to simply fall off after only about 500 miles of use. I agree with others that the bars are very noisy on bumpy roads, and I guess all that rattling finally worked the pin loose. The faulty pins and rattling are a bummer, because I like the flip-up feature. Still, I'll probably switch to a fixed-armrest style aerobar.

Strengths: speed and endurance greatly raised. Very comfortable.Weaknesses: Some neck muscle pain at firstBottom Line: Wow. So much more speed. And I can push myself longer. It didn't really do it for me until I caught a scooter going uphill after a thirty-mile run. So happy. I weigh about 150, so I didn't have any problems with the hinges or the springs, and before i used it, i took advice from a few people and used lock-tite. Since this was my first experience with an aerobar, i made a few mistakes with it, one coming to mind. I was coming up to a hill, and stood up to climb...Unfortunately, i forgot i was using the aerobar. Whump, talk about crash and burn fellas. But it's a great product for beginners and light-weights.

Strengths: Flip-up pads let you use the top bar
Comfortable to use without major changes to the bike geometry or fit
Competitively pricedWeaknesses: The hinges suck. Period.
Rattles will drive you crazy on rough roadsBottom Line: Flawed hinges mar an otherwise fine product. The hinge pins keep working loose on mine.
