Strengths:    The flare is awesome. Any one with wrist problems, get a one.

Weaknesses:    350 mls and haven't found one

Bottom Line:
Had been looking for a new set of bars for my Litespeed. Having broken both arms, my wrist don't rotate outward without pain. I heard and read that Salsa's Bell Lap had flared drops and went for it. Bought the 44 width and love 'em. For the first time in years, I'm able to USE the drops. Until now it had been hoods only.

Strengths:    Lightweight, well made, stiff, comfortable, ergo shape.

Weaknesses:    Oversized 31.8mm version has a taper that restricts your location options for mounting cross levers.

Bottom Line:
I use this bar on steel LeMond for commuting. I got the 31.8mm oversized version and paired it with a Salsa road stem. It's a nice, stiff bar with a comfortable ergo shape and widely flared drops, which I don't use much. The ergo bulge for reaching the brake levers from the drops works very well. The top flats are plenty wide; my only complaint is that the center bulge (for the 31.8mm OS version) forces you to mount cross brake levers either very close to the stem clamp (OS) or very far away from the clamp, which interferes with the flats hand position. Basically, the sweet spot for the levers is right where the taper is, right where your bar wrap usually ends - and youcan't mount anything there. If I could do it over, I'd skip the OS version.

Strengths:    Flared drops and rigidity.

Weaknesses:    Limited space to put top reach brake levers on. The connection area for the stem runs a little long making it a tight squeeze with the levers.

Bottom Line:
I came off of a 46cm Bontgrager Cyclocross hanblebar that I found way to wide for me (5'10"). I switched to a 42cm Bell Lap and I am overly pleased with the product. The Salsa bar is actually wider at the bottom of the drops than my previous 46cm bar, but the top offers me a more adequate handling positions. The flared drops are excellent for climbing and increased stability/handling from the drops in rough conditions. I would not go back to standard drop bars on my cyclocross bike.

Strengths:    Tough

Weaknesses:    none

Bottom Line:
I have the 46cm version on my cyclocross bike. Too wide for me but no noticeable flex. Top mount levers went on easily on mine too. I like the short reach and drop. Crashed on it many times, hasn't bent yet.

Strengths:    Stiff enough, intersting flare at drops, good for off road climbing. Top mount levers install with ease.

Weaknesses:    On occasion I question the flare, if it were less, more or none at all.

Bottom Line:
Excellent cyclocross specific item. I own two pairs, 44cm om my colnago cross and 42cm on a singlespeed cross. I have no complaints. Salsa makes solid products.
