Selle SMP TRK Saddles

DESCRIPTION

The Selle SMP Strike TRK Man saddle is designed from extensive studies conducted which analyzed the different positions assumed by a cyclist in the various phases of a ride and the constant interaction between the body and the saddle. Based on these findings, Selle SMP designed the STRIKE saddle which prevents the cyclist’s sensitive areas from getting squashed and increases the blood flow to the leg muscles.

Strength:

No perineal numbness. None - but my longest ride is 50 miles. I tried Avocet, Fizik Aliante, Serfas RX, Brooks Imperial - all made me numb within 15 miles. The SMP TRK made me numb only when it wasn't properly adjusted. It was also less expensive than the Brooks or the Fizik. (I bought the Avocet in 1981. The Serfas was a gift in 2002.) Anatomical design is also a strength.

Weakness:

Lots of padding. On the wide side. After 2300 miles, it started to come apart at the seam in the slot. I've still got miles left on this saddle, but it's time to consider a new one. List price is the same, but discount is higher than 2016. Saddle tilt is critical, sp be prepared to experiment. Best with 2-bolt seatposts.

Strength:

I have many many bikes with many different saddles on them. But my "go to" saddle--particularly for longer rides (60, 80, 100 miles) is the Selle SMP TRK.

I haven't ridden the full line of SMP saddles--and I'm sure there are some really outstanding models in the higher price ranges... but for $70 to $80 (new) it is virtually impossible to beat the TRK. On shorter rides (20, 30, 40 miles) just about ANY saddle will do. But you really notice a saddles strengths (or weaknesses) on longer rides. And I can ride 80 to 100 miles on the TRK with virtually no ill effects whatsoever. No pain or numbness anywhere. Very little chaffing. (I mean, come on... at 80+ miles, it is almost impossible to have no chaffing somewhere.) And the day after my long rides... no pain or discomfort anywhere.

You can spend a LOT more on a saddle and get a LOT less in return. I switched my girlfriend to this same saddle and she loves it as well. (They have a "lady" version that is virtually the same.)

Weakness:

None that I can find. Super comfortable on short and long rides alike... and SO affordable.

Look on ebay and you can sometimes scoop them up for $20 / $30. They come in an assortment of colors... black, red, blue, yellow... brown... etc. I prefer the red. But they can be hard to find. If you don't find this saddle to be extremely comfortable... you probably have it in the wrong position.

Strength:

comfortable except a 3.5h+ ride in hills.cheap!cheap!cheap!

Weakness:

feel numb for a ride in hills

It's a comfortble saddle. But when riding in the hills more than 2h+,you'll feel somewhat numb, just a little bit, because it's not hard enough.Dancing occationally can resolve it,but if you're too exhuasted to dance,then....change you saddle to smp composit or evolution
