Strengths: COMFORT!
No worries about health issue.Weaknesses: None.Bottom Line: Fits like an underpants! No pressure! No hot spot! No numbness!
Selle SMP is said to be the ONLY saddle with cutout that really works. And it does works.
The biggest difference compared with a normal cut-out saddle I can notice is when I am in the drop of the handlebar, it feels so easy that I can keep the low position for an extended time without any uncomfort or numbness, and no more do I need to worry about the pressure porblem and move around and lift up from time to time which distract me from enjoying riding.
The weight of the stratos is 255g, not feather light but light enough for any rides. There's a full carbon version for weight weenies too.
The rail of the saddle is quite long, so the fore-aft postion of the saddle can be easily adjusted without the concern of the seatpost setback.
Favorite Ride: Pudong Airport, Shanghai
Similar Products Used: Terry FLY. Too soft, not enough support in the middle.
Selle Italia SLR. Too wide in the middle. Too hard.
Fizik Arione. The worst saddle I've ever used.
Selle Italia NIXE. My favorite before the stratos appears.
Bike Setup: Peugeot competition steel frame (Columbus Thron tubing)
Ultegra 9 speed group.
Truvativ Elita double crankset.
