Strengths: ultra light weight, durability (survived a collision with a volvo), great looking.
excellent damping properties on a stiff aluminum frameWeaknesses: It is carbon, so you have to be careful when tightening the clamp and head bolt. make sure not to have any grease in the seat tube or it can slide or the grease can damage the carbon. high cost retailBottom Line: Ultra-lightweight carbon seatpost with a magnesium head... doesn't get much better than that as far as materials go. the ribbed head design holds securely, and is reasonably granular. properly tightened it doesn't shift

Strengths: The seat post is light and stylish.Weaknesses: The seat angle adjustment is not granular enough. I torqued the adjustment bolt to the required tension, however, the seat clamp developed cracks after about 3 months. The cracks were noticed after the seat rotated while riding. The carbon teeth (used for tilt adjustment) were ground down since the seat rotated. Deda replaced the seat clamp but did not warranty the carbon seat post. I am not too pleased with that. In my opinion, the seat post is unsafe.Bottom Line: I do not recommend the deda blackstick mag. The seat clamp failed after 3 months.

Similar Products Used: The FSA carbon seat post is much more solid. It does not rely on teeth for saddle angle adjustment (infinitely adjustable via hex screws).
