Summary: Be careful with these
I have had two, both of which have had the head seperate form the tube. The first was replaced under warranty the second wasn't.
Weaknesses: Light, look good
Similar Products Used: Not very robust

Summary: This is a follow-up to my previous review. My replacement Dura-Ace seatpost head just separated from the shaft after just 17 months/about 4500 miles. That's 2 broken seatposts in 4 years. That's an average of 1 seatpost every 2 years, or 1 seatpost every 6000 miles. At a price of $80, that's about 1.3 cents per mile. I guess I shouldn't complain. With the price of gas these days, it costs me about 7.5 cents per mile to drive my Acura.
The Shimano rep would not warrantee the seatpost this time. If you’re buying a Dura Ace groupo, do yourself a favor and get another brand of seatpost.
Strengths: works and looks great until it breaks
Weaknesses: It's going to break soon

Bike Setup: Vanilla track/touring with Record/Centaur/Superbe/DA/Phil/Paul mix (Brooks Swift), Russ Denny road w/ D/A 9sp (Swift), Schwinn Paramount road converted setup as fixie (Team Pro)
Summary: I love this post- I have one on each of my three bikes. I ride Brooks saddles and this is one of the few posts I've found that will tip down far enough for the rail angle on the Brooks'.
I don't know what the other posters are talking about since I haven't experienced any structural failures and most of my riding is done in the city: off curbs, over potholes, sewer grates, bad pavement and train tracks. I only weigh 140lbs, but I also watch my line and unweight, though I have hit some big bumps where I got smacked in the bum pretty hard and this post hasn't shown any signs of weakness. I've crashed on it a few times, too.
Strengths: - sexy finish
- angle adjustability works with Brooks'
- nice setback
- single bolt adjustability
- light as carbon, strong as alloy
Weaknesses: - one of my posts doesn't have the NJS stamp
- shiny finishes shows insertion marks easily
Bike Setup: 2000 LeMond aluminum Maillot Juane, Velomax wheels, Dura Ace groupo, Selle Italia SLR saddle
Summary: I weigh 145lbs. after lunch. The seat post separated from the clamping mechanism in less than two years of riding. I'm on my second Dura Ace seatpost, and its making the same clicking sound as the last one did before it separated. Most of Shimano equipment is brilliantly engineered. This is not.
Strengths: My seat is higher than my frame.
Weaknesses: That is, until the seatpost separates again.
