at Excel Bike Setup: Merlin RSR w/Campy Chorus and triple. Mavic Open pros w/Michelins
Summary: While the early Ergo Power on my Bianchi was a bit touchy at times, definitely worth it. This upgrade from Mirage to Chorus on the Merlin was the right move. Much smoother and crip shifting. I originally made the upgrade to setup and Ergo Brain, but the improved controls were a surprise. I have used Shimano's equivalent and there is no comparison.
Strengths: Positive, smooth shifting. Definitely and improvement over 1998 Mirage Ergo. These are Y2K Chorus, and the different grip is better also. Weaknesses: A little stiffer action than I expected. Similar Products Used: Eight speed Ergo on my Bianchi and Bar Con shifters on a Peugeot.

| | Favorite Ride: Up Bike Setup: Basso Zer, Campagnolo Record and Chorus parts, Nucleon wheels Summary: Superb. Why go for record? Don't even consider Shimano if you go for a well functioning, silent and durable shifter.
Strengths: Work fine from day one - even better after some time. Simple, conventional design and function. Carbon and aluminium parts - quite light. Weaknesses: I don't really see any Similar Products Used: Shimano DuraAce and Ultegra
