Strengths: Light, fast shifts, visual gear indicator windows, adjustable lever reach, via shims. Double AND triple compatible!Weaknesses: Need super long thumbs, to shift up from the drops, otherwise the hoods is your best bet. Not quite as fast as Ultegra or 105 but you get what you pay for!Bottom Line: At 410 grams a pair- Shimano sure has lightened up this unit considerably. They shift very fast and the slightly increased lever throw is not a big inconvenience at all.
The lever action is smooth and light feeling. Perfect for the beginning road rider, who wants reliable shifts and adjustable lever travel.
However, once you try Ultegra...you'll soon eBay these off to another new cyclist!

Strengths: Good shifter, gets the job done.Weaknesses: The the left shifter (ring change) should be reversed. Also the visual to let you know what what gear you are in is almost nonexistent.Bottom Line: Good shifter, but it is hard to tell what gear you are in.
