Strengths:    Compelling argument for bar end shifters.

Weaknesses:    Might leave you stranded on a long ride.

Bottom Line:
Abysmal POS! I don't think STI makes any sense at this price point, anyway. They're trying to do too much with too little, too many compromises. Eats cables, throws the chain off the the granny ring, needs constant adjustment.Combined with the cheapo JagWire cables the Satellite Sport came with, truly a horror.
I finally ditched these, and went with Shimano's 8 speed bar end shifters, set to friction shifting mode. Now, THAT is an improvement! $56.00 from JensonUSA.

Similar Products Used:   Shimano's 105 STI brifters are decent. If you must have STI, these should be your minimum.

Bike Setup:   2010 Jamis Satellite Sport. 45 cm Nitto Randonneur bars, Shimano 8 speed bar end shifters. Stock FSA Tempo crankset, 2300 front derailleur (which is actually OK, hard to make a crappy front derailleur), Sora rear derailleur and 12-26 cassette,
Thompson seatpost, Brooks B17 saddle. Shimano Ultegra hubs/Mavic 33 rims, handbuilt wheel set.
