Strengths:    Lightweight
All Black

Weaknesses:    Doesn't let the cable tension all the way out

Bottom Line:
Well, these shifters came on my KHS Flite 220 Compact. While I've always been a fan of this design in some aspects and how lightweight it is, this version just doesn't do the job. Brand new it wouldn't let the tension out all the way, so I had to physically pull the cable on the downtube to get it to drop into the smaller gear. Disassemble, de-greased, then re lubed. It worked for about 10 miles then started failing again. Replaced with a first generation Sora shifter which has the exact same design...but actually works.

Strengths:    > Cost less.
> Has a reach adjustment.
> Bad ass Black.
> Function as intended.

Weaknesses:    > Plastic materials are used all throughout... it's okay since this is a lower end group from Shimano.
> Not quick during shifting to higher gears... the movement will start when you release the thumb shifter... but I liked it though.

Bottom Line:
Had bought my Shimano 2200 brifters and derailuers together with my Giant OCR 3300 (compact road bike).

2008 Shimano 2200 (brifters) is the 8 spd Sora... they just changed the color and re-badged to 2200. Less the Flight Deck compatibility also.

Used it for training and occasional racing. I'm happy with it.
