Strengths:    Fairly easy to use and works satisfactorily so far (been riding on it for two months at the time of this review, 65 miles/week).

Weaknesses:    Does not shift smoothly and consistently when shifting under a load. (But I found this to somewhat be the case when using the manufacturer installed handle shifter as well.) Currently my break lever with the shifter sticks and has to be pushed back into position (lever assembly parts have become eschew inside and are rubbing against one another, hope to have this remedied soon. Design easily allows shifter and and gear release button to be depressed simultaneously when using Lobster claw Pearl iZumi biking gloves.

Bottom Line:
The Versa VRS-8 is the only shifter out there if you want drop bars on an internal hub commuter bike. I had this shifter installed on my new Raleigh Cadent i8.
