Price Paid:  $150.00 at Employee Purchase

    Model Year:
    2004

    Favorite Ride:
    Town

    Bike Setup:
With 42 lbs of bike and 250 lbs of heft to move, the single speed hub and stock gearing just wasn't cuttin' it. I bought a Shimano Nexus 3 coaster hub and installed a 1 tooth larger cog (went from 19 to 20). I also found some super cheap black bmx cranks with 175mm arms to replace the stock 165mm cranks to give me more mechanical advantage. The hills can kiss my butt now.

I also installed a nicer alloy 1-piece seatpost, fake leather grips, Brooks B17 saddle, and an Odyssey BMX bottom bracket. The stock BB was sorta crappy, so I could choose between tight bearings or clunking. A better quality replacement solved that problem.

    Summary:
I am guilty of buying this on impulse, but I don't regret it. I work at a KHS dealer and we have had this poor 2004 Nitrous for close to 2 years without any takers. I can't believe how such a cool looking bike could be passed over, especially for $100 off the $329 retail price.

Anyway, I really started to take a shine to the bike. I love the lavender paint with black and green. I also found that the seat could be raised enough for my 6'1" frame to get some nice leg extension and still have those big ol' ape hangers way up high.

Read below for the chances I made...

In conclusion, this is a really fun bike. I love the comments I get while riding around.

    Strengths:
    Sweet looking and cheap

    Weaknesses:
    This hog needs gears!

    42 lbs, OINK!

Stock BB is cheap, but a $6 replacement fixed er up.
