Bottom Line: I don't even own an Octalink BB; however, I've read in numerous places that--contrary to the introductory note above--2 mutually incompatible Octalinks exist, V1 & V2. V1 is mostly for Road setups (105 / Ultegra / Dura-Ace) & V2 is mostly for Mountain setups (Deore). Just wanted to warn people about that. I won't say any more because I'm only getting info second-hand.

Strengths: easy to install,maintenence free,highly resistant to wear,smooth spin,longlived,excellent valueWeaknesses: noneBottom Line: I installed this bottom bracket with a 105 nine speed group on a Soma Smoothie frame('04 Reynolds 8-5-3)easton ascent II wheels.
18 lbs total weight.This rig is ridden 200 miles a week for six years.So far no noticeable wear and spins smooth six years later.
