at Oswald cycle works Favorite Ride: Oswald Bike Setup: Campy 10 speed Chorus. Summary: Installing the perma link is NOT rocket science. Anyone who buys the expensive Campy tool just has money to burn or has bought into the Campy hype. I use a $2 beam clamp and have NEVER had a problem. Strengths: Works well. Weaknesses: Too expensive. Not reusuable. Poor design. Use an SRAM 9 speed link like I have for the last 2 years. Similar Products Used: SRAM power link

at Mail order Favorite Ride: Anytime I'n on the bike Bike Setup: Columbus Brain, classic lugged steel. Campy Record 10 speed Summary: Permalink: an example of poor engineering. Complicated to install, expensive to buy. Requires special dedicated tool for a relatively simple function. Strengths: It does join the chain well. Never broke (of course neither have other systems). Weaknesses: Bad design. Special tool costs 70 bucks, link itself 12 or so. That is an expensive proposition if you like to remove your chain for cleaning. Similar Products Used: Sachs, Rohloff, others
