Strengths: I got it in 2011 heavily discounted but it is the most economical Campy chainset / crankset nevertheless. Has the same UT setup as the mid to high end models so you can enjoy using high end BB cups. Finish is bead blasted mat black with white logo which look ok if not that chic. The steel (!!) small chainring will offer a long service life and also suited for touring or even CX bikes. I put it on Ritchey Breakaway expecting it to be scratched up over time but won't have to cry every time it gets scratches! The UT system needed no extra works on the frame like facing BB or such. Solid, smooth, sturdy it's a workhorse or - the marketing term is - an entry level like Shimano Tiagra or 105 with the exact same external design as mid to high end models. It's a good Campy product that won't hurt your budget. Chain ring bolts are stainless so they won't rust but the nuts are plated steel. Takes standard 135mm Campy chainrings so if you really want to go 11speed on a budget you can use this spider with the 11 speed chainrings.Weaknesses: The finish is not as sexy as Tiagra or 105. Wish they had polished silver finish in this price range. If you want silver you need to go Veloce. The chainrings - both outer and inner - are all black and may look a bit cheap on some bikes. As Athena got back on Campy's range Mirage is longer offered (as of 2012) and Veloce is at the bottom of the pyramid now. Not very light - about the same as Tiagra but you can replace to alu inner ring to lighten a bit.Bottom Line: Overall it's worth the price. Nice Campy UT design inside with a cheapish external finish. It's tough, easy to look after and the steel inner chainring will offer a good milage on commuting, touring and CX bikes (all of these setup do not use Super Record BB cups as they do not have water seals). Also good on entry level road bikes and possibly for those heavy riders who would crack the carbon ones.
Favorite Ride: long smooth stretch without cars to bother me
Purchased At: some UK online shop
Similar Products Used: Tiagra, 105, Truvativ
