Product Description

The S500 continues to set the standard in elegance and strength in road cranksets. We start with an AL 7050 TV alloy that is forged into an elegant final shape. The S500 uses our durable GXP external bearing system with our Powerglide 10 speed chainrings.

Strengths:    Good value, light, good looking

Weaknesses:    could do with some caps to keep dirt out

Bottom Line:   
Very good crankset, i have this on my planet x sl pro with a force groupset, light, stiff and has done some long rides and never failed or felt sluggish. Looks good as well.

Alex S500 rim weight vs Neuvation M28X aero's

I have a 2010 Specialized Allez that came with Alex S500 rims. I replaced the stock rims with Neuvation rims, and weighed them both on my bathroom scale. The stock rims w/skewers weighed 4.4lbs. The Neuvation rims w/skewers weighed 3.8lbs. Just incase anybody was wondering... :)Read More »

Does anyone out there have a Sram S500 crankset? What is the diffrence between it and the Rival? I was considering buying the Rival, but found the S500 much cheaper and so far the only diffrence I can find is that the Rival has OCT crank arms and the S500 does not (I am assuming they are solid AL) ...
