at Lickton bikes Favorite Ride: Racoon Mtn RR, Chattanooga Bike Setup: Custom Strong True Temper S3 frame, 10-sp Campy Record derailleurs w/Ergo shifters, FSA Carbon Pro crank, Brew Racing brakes, Speed Dream wheels Summary: It shifts, first time, every time. It has Campy’s typical jewel-like finish. What more could you ask?
I like that it has a replaceable rubber "rub block" on the cage. When it gets old and gnarly you can replace the rub block.
Actual weight is 105 grams.
My old bike has '93 Ergo levers on a '90 derailleur and takes 3 'clicks' of the lever to shift from small ring to big ring. This new derailleur takes 4 clicks. I know that the shifter dictates cable pull but you really can't separate the 2; the length of the derailleur's lever arm also influences the shift. I'd hoped it would take fewer clicks, not more. I suspect Campy has left it this way because the old ergo had a big appetite for front derailleur cables and the shorter pull equals less cable stress. Strengths: Fairly light
Shifts pretty well
Pretty Weaknesses: Too many clicks to shift Similar Products Used: Earlier Campy Record Ergo, Shimano Dura-Ace, Shimano Ultegra 600, Suntour Superbe-Pro
