Price Paid:  $90.00 at Hawley's Bicycle Wor

Favorite Ride:
Hills

Bike Setup:
SuperSix, SRAM Red Group

Summary:
The cage on this derailleur is crap! It has to much flex and wears fast when the chain rubs due to no trim on the big front gear. I had to replace derailleur after one year. Pro teams insisted on a different cage on their front derailleurs. They must know something the rest of us don't!

Strengths:
light weight

Weaknesses:
Cage has to much flex causing unreliable shifting. Don't even think about shifting under load on a hill!

Similar Products Used:
SRAM Force and Rival, Shimano Dura Ace

Price Paid:  $0.00

Favorite Ride:
Sonoma/Mendocino County coastal hills

Bike Setup:
Landshark carbon bike, Ksyrium ES wheels, Look KEO cromo pedals, FSA Wing handlebars, Michelin Pro 2 tires, Specialized Toupe saddle

Summary:
Broke my brand new 2008 SRAM Red front derailleur on a downshift. There's a weld on top of the cage is came apart. Don't know if SRAM fixed this design, but it is definitely inferior construction/design.

Shifting is also not as firm as Dura Ace. Stiffness is sacrificed with the lighter ti material on the Red. I'm going back to Dura Ace on my front derailleur.

Strengths:
Lightweight

Weaknesses:
Shifting action not as responsive as Dura Ace, and cage is prone to breaking

Similar Products Used:
Shimano Dura Ace and Ultegra 9 and 10 speed groupsets
