Strengths:    Dual-Purpose use, Durable, Low Maintenance

Weaknesses:    Weight, Hybrid Type, Grabby

Bottom Line:
Purchased this in August of 2011, and after more than 3,000 miles including a pair of centuries, I am satisfied with its performance and operation. It has never been problematic to me. A little bit of TLC during my regular maintenance routine on my bike is enough for it to perform normally. Its PD letters should be made to DP for Dual Purpose because one can use their bikes with or without cleats. On the downside, it's dual-purpose design is also its main weakness, for it won't be in the short list of roadies who will only go after those that cater to 3-bolt patterns. But for practicality, this is at the top of any list.

Strengths:    (1) Dual purpose - use it for flats and clipless anytime you want. (2) Relatively easy to switch from flats to clipless. (3) Durable. (4) Comes with reflector.

Weaknesses:    (1) Really heavy. (2) Mine started to make that ticking sound after probably 6 months of use. Probably needs oil. (3) For some reason, I have difficulty taking off my shoes (Shimano M087) compared to other clipless pedals I've used. It can be dangerous when you're stuck in traffic and you can't take your shoes off the pedal. I hope this problem is uniquely my own.

Bottom Line:
If you're a weight weenie this one's not for you. But if you don't mind the weight, go for it. It's very comfortable and you can switch from flat to clipless to flat easily. A530 is good for those who like to use flats from time to time to do errands, but also go for clipless shoes when they go for a cycling weekend.

I'd recommend this product anytime to anyone who doesn't care about the weight.
