    Price Paid:  $190.00 at Phantomcycles

    Bike Setup:
    2001 Avanti Vivace

    Summary:
Well after I mutilated the Tiagra rear derailleur that came with my bike I found an Ultegra rear derailleur for a good price ($AUS99 = $US190). I must admit the Ultegra rear derailleur shifts great and is lighter too.

    Strengths:
    Lightweight. Smooth shifting.

    Weaknesses:
Not quite DA, but so much cheaper.

    Similar Products Used:
    Tiagra.

    Bike Setup:
Mercian Renolds 653. Shimano Ultegra triple. Mavic Open Pro rims. DT Swiss db spokes. Michelin latex tubes and Supercomp tyres. ITM bars, stem and seatpost. Terry saddle.

    Summary:
Light operation. Never failed to shift promptly up or down, whether under load or not, when used on a 14..25 rear cluster. Brillaint. No sign of wear despite a year's hammering. Anybody looking for a triple rear mech (used with Shimano chain and rear cogs) will not be disappointed with this rear mech.

    Strengths:
    Flawless operation.

    Weaknesses:
    None noticed.
