$0.00 Bike Setup: Trek 2000 (2000 model year) with stock Tiagra setup. recently upgraded to Ultegra. Summary: I really gave this Tiagra derailleur, and the rest of the drivetrain, a good test. I rode a total of 5,000 miles on this derailleur, including a number of centuries, in a 16 month period. Though it performed very well, shifting quickly and cleanly, it is starting to show some serious wear. The pulleys have both developed play and the unit as a whole is not as sturdy as it needs to be. My hypotheses is that this derailleur will work well for riders who do not regularly put in high mileage. If you do the occasional century, you'll be fine, but if you are expecting your derailleur to see you through thousands and thousands of miles of deependable riding, you should be wise and by a better quality product. Strengths: Inexpensive. Good quality. Good performance. Good shifting action. Weaknesses: Relatively heavy. Pulleys will wear if you put in lots and lots of miles. Not strong for high mileage riding. Reasonably lightweight. Has never failed. Weaknesses: Not as lightweight or as smooth as Ultegra or Dura-Ace. Similar Products Used: None

$30.00
at California Bikes Bike Setup: Foes, and the rest is unimportant as this is a road bike sight. Summary: Awesome, at least for DH, wouldn't know for road bike. Strengths: I'm actually a DH/Freeride cyclist but mtbr didn't have the Tiagra Derailleur in their data base. I landed the entire 34 pound Foes bike on the derailleur on a concrete retaining wall and the derailleur doesn't have a scratch. Weaknesses: None yet, other than maybe weight buit it isn't even that heavy (especially since it's a DH bike it's not that important. Similar Products Used: various shimano (STX, XTR) and various others. Doubt if any of them would have taken that kind of a hit.
