at LBS Favorite Ride: Rolling hills! Bike Setup: Record Group, Microtech Carbon fork (came with the frame), ITM Unika handlebar, Deda Zero stem, Profile Design O3 seatpost, Mavic Ksyrium SSC SL wheels, Michelin Pro Race tires. Summary: You know when you are about to pyuke, and you say "Oh, my God!". OK, it's entirely different "Oh, my God!" when you sit and ride this bike. Since I also own Basso Diamante '04, I can tell you that there is almost no difference between the two. Actually, I like the looks of Zer0.9 beter than that of Diamante, mainly because of the black matte finish on the rear triangle and fork, and the fact that tubes are not as massive as they are on Diamante.
As far as ride is concerned, it is phenomenal. The frame is stiff, there is almost no lateral movement, and goes great uphill (this is also due to awesome Ksyrium SLs). If there's any difference between Zer0.9 and Diamante, it's that the road bumps can be felt just a tad more on this frame due to aluminum front triangle (but this is nit picking really, and I am doing a terrible injustice writing this when I compare Zer0.9 to my old aluminum frame which behaved like an untamed horse, and Diamante is super comfortable).
The point is this. If you are looking at price/performance between Basso's 2 top frames, Zer0.9 should be your choice. To make it even easier for all the weight weenies considering buying a Basso frame, the weight difference between the two is only 120 grams (Zer0.9 1200g, Diamante 1080g). Strengths: I hate vibrations of any kind (none here).
Stiff.
Light.
Responsive.
Comfortable.
Beautiful craftsmanship, colors (mine is a mix of blue, white, matte silver, and matte black colors). Weaknesses: Basso frames have long head tubes. My 56 cm frame has a 17.6 cm head tube. This suits me perfectly, but it may not be to your needs. When looking at the size of the frame you are going to buy, keep in mind that the most important measurements (not saying that other measurements are not important) are the size of the head tube AND the top tube as this determines how tall the bike is going to be and how stretched you are going to be over it.
