at EBAY Favorite Ride: BMC SLC01 Bike Setup: Campy Record Ti/Carbon 10 speed Summary: This review is for Litespeed GET Vortex Compact '06 model. I got it used off of ebay, previous history shows no abuse, frame looked great otherwise. Problem? Cracked 6/4 ti tubing on downtube, across the weld and straight into the downtube. This shows a serious problem with the raw material Litespeed is using, not so much workmanship, welds look beautiful. This is my second Litespeed, other was a Ghisallo. Contacting Litespeed to see what they do to resolve this issue. Hope it's satisfactory or maybe these tubing defects should be recalled via CPSC.
Strengths: Beautiful shape, welds Weaknesses: Obviously saying Ti is safer, more durable than carbon is not the case. This frame looks great, no signs of wrecks and tubing is cracked like a plumbers butt. Similar Products Used: Spectrum Ti Custom, Two Airborne (chinese made-no cracks) Zepplins, Litespeed Ghisallo (no problems, just a wet noodle)
