Record™: heart and reason
Always a synonym of absolute excellence, the Record™ groupset is the perfect balance between passion for cycling and the most advanced technology available on the market...
Bike Setup: Basso Zer0.9, Campy Record including hubs laced to Mavic Open Pro rims.
Summary: After 5 years of use and 20k (km) on this group what can I say...The original cassette is still good (cog 21 is showing signs of age) and the right lever, which was involved in two major crashes, finally needs some parts replaced. Everything else is perfect, including cables and casings which are original (read 5 years old). The replacement parts for the lever will set me back $20 (oh, the humanity).
Strengths: Shifting - spot on, always.
Adjusting - set it and forget it.
Rebuildability - the biggest value, for me, lies here, especially now when ergo parts (especially the ones that wear out) are widely available.
Weaknesses: Initial cost of the group, but as the years go by you realize what you have paid for. Cost of long term usage is minimal

Bike Setup: 06 Litespeed, Zipp 404's, Easton Ec 90slx fork, Deda Bar, Look Ti pedals
Summary: WOW. I was quite happy with my Dura-Ace set-up until I rode a friends bike with Campy. It was so much smoother and quieter that I decided when my components were worn to switch. With Record prices dropping I picked up a complete set including skeleton brakes. Every thing is smoother, quieter, and, more precise.
Strengths: Precision Shifting.
Weaknesses: Still on the pricey side but, it was worth every penny.

Summary: I've ridden Shimano for 15 years and then some SRAM, and it was only after a few brifters and derailleurs failed on me and I started making significantly more than minimum wage that I decided to give Campy a shot.
You can't really be told how much better it is. You have to see, install, and ride it to appreciate the VAST improvement Record is to Red or Dura-Ace. The engineering is better. The machining is more precise. The finish is smoother. The shifting is more definitive. The look is more professional.
If you have an engineering background, the other bottom bracket / bearing designs alone seem amateurish compared to the elegance of Campy cups; it's simply the way it should have been done from the very beginning and if you only consider this feature alone you already wouldn't consider any other groupo.
The shifters are beautiful, the brakes work great, the cranks feel so fantastically solid yet light, the shifts are effortless and precise. I could go on and on... Spend the extra $400, it's worth it in the long run. And yes you'll become a snob, but really, you KNOW you really just always wanted to be that guy riding Campy!
Bike Setup: S-Works Roubaix, Rovel Fusee SL wheelset, Campagnolo Record groupset, Look Keo carbon pedals
Summary: This review is for the red 'limited edition' pro version. This groupset is outstanding, the shifting is extremely crisp and the braking responsive. Hoods are much more comfortable than Dura-Ace is also lighter and looks amazing.
Strengths: Shifting, comfortable hoods, weight
Weaknesses: Price (although i got mine 33% off - could be cheaper at the moment as the new 11 speed version is coming out)

Bike Setup: 2007 Bianchi 928 Carbon Lugged, Campagnolo Zonda Wheelset, Selle Italia Flight saddle, ITM stem, seatpost & handelbar, Look sprint pedals.
Summary: This groupset is a dream! Yes, it is expensive, but in my opinion, it's worth the price, once you experience the quality, precision, and performance, you'll come to understand why so many of the pros use it. If you are in the market for the ultimate groupset, don't waste your time and money on anything other than the Record.
