Strengths:    I found the suspension to work well on a paved trail broken up by tree roots. I like the ability to lock out the front fork. The hydraulic discs worked very well even without haveing the pads broken in.

Weaknesses:    The suspension seat post is pretty much useless. If they're going to spec one I'd rather see one that functioned well. Otherwise lets save the weight. Seat is only ok.

Bottom Line:
This bike is a very competent bike for the commuter cyclist who doesn't want to give up the cush of their hardtail mountain bike, but wants something that will brake well in the rain, has mountain bike style controls and lighter 700C wheels. I feel this bike is very good value for $ - mind you I haven't ridden it much at this point.

Favorite Ride:   Kona Dew FS

Price Paid:    $700.00

Purchased At:   Jubilee Cycles

Similar Products Used:   I test road only Kona bikes this time as I'm a big fan and my LBS carrys them. I road a Dew Drop, A Dew Delux and a Cinder Cone. I currently commute on a hardtail mountain bike that I built myself out of spare parts.

Bike Setup:   I haven't finished setting it up yet. I'll probably put bar ends on it, fenders, lights and a rear rack. It came with a kick stand and I'm considering keeping it on. I will change the seat for my Terry Liberator. Wellgo clipless pedals also.

I am looking for a commuter bike to get into the city daily, about 30 miles round trip. I need something that is fast and will be able to handle the rain and icy roads in winter.    Read More »
