Price Paid:  $600.00 at VINTAGE IRON

Model Year:
2005

Favorite Ride:
FELT 400 CROSS

Summary:
Saw pictures of this bike on their website and had to have one, called them and gave them my credit card # and got the first one. First of all vintage iron put it together wrong and i had a local bike shop go over it before i rode it but this bike is a blast. When i take it to motocross nationals people go crazy, it looks like an early 70's husqvarna 400 cross so people of a certain age love it. I always get stopped and people ask questions, take pictures etc. if you want attention this bike is it. Rides good, wheelies good, hgreat bike.

Price Paid:  $600.00 at Bicycles Inc., Bedfo

Model Year:
2006

Bike Setup:
The 400 Cross is stock.
Bicycles, Inc. put the front fender on backwards, and bent the bracket trying to make it fit. They didn't believe it was backward. I had to get my tools and fix it in the shop. I've tried to adjust the front drum brake, but it remains weak.

Summary:
The bike is a cruiser. If you use it that way, I don't believe you will be disappointed.

Strengths:
For myself, the looks of the 400 Cross does it. It is unique, and well appointed as a human powered 70's motocross bike. The ride is smooth and relaxed.

Weaknesses:
It's not a mountain bike or an efficient road bike. The brakes are marginal. They will stop you, but you need to plan ahead. You can't park the bike in public and walk away. It will be gone when you come back. If you don't want to worry, ride a beater. The kickstand will pivot forward past the stop, dumping the bike. You have to be very careful using the kickstand. Felt relies on their dealers for warranty issues. Be sure of your dealer, or once it's out the door it's your problem.
