Summary:
I purchased this bike strictly as a training bike (I race XC) and I'll probably never race 'cross on it. Riding on the road is great, it allows me to explore and vary my routes much more as the area I’m in has very poorly paved roads that fade into gravel. It’s obviously much faster than my mountain bike and is actually more comfortable. The whole bike accelerates quite well without much flex. The drivetrain works well, the shifters sometimes need a little milking to get to an easier gear regardless of set up. The tires are really grippy and quite compliant at a range of pressures. The bike does seem a little twitchy compared to my road bike but that could be the ultra stiff fork? Brakes were really scary at first they had NO stopping power until they settled in. Now they are great, I can lock up the front wheel on gravel! The seat isn’t too bad but it is really hard, hopefully it will flex in a bit or a new seat will be required. The thing I don’t think I like on this bike is the pedals. They seem hard to line up to clip in to and they rattle when you’re carrying the bike. But the worst is that the cleat is loose in the pedal and every time you pull up the shoe moves a little in the pedal, very annoying. They can easily be replaced with my Times so it’s no big deal. Overall a pretty good bike.

Strengths:
Price, nice frame, nice wheels, great tires.

Weaknesses:
Pedals are irritating, seat is REALLY hard
