at Broadway Cycle, Toro Model Year: 2007 Favorite Ride: right through rush hour traffic Bike Setup: Stock (flipped stem), Time Alium clipless pedals. Summary: A pretty sweet bike for all-around use. I use this bike for my longer commutes and recreational riding, and it's been holding up very well so far. The bike is very light, responsive, and yet at the same time stable due to longer wheelbase, relaxed geometry and wide-ish (44 cm) handlebars. It soaks up the road buzz pretty well. Can acommodate rack and fenders and wide tires.
However, I was told by a bike shop that Specialized forgot to send some BB washers with their Tricrosses. The shop installed the missing washer during the first tune-up. Just something to be aware of - who knows how many stores got bikes with missing washers...
The position on this bike is probably slightly too upright for me: in fact, the way the stem is originally is just ridiculous (just take a look at the picture!). But it has four positions to choose from, so I found the geometry more acceptable after flipping it. Strengths: - lightweight
- good componentry
- eyelets for rack and fenders
- clearance for wide tires
- canti brakes (me like)
- sissy brake levers
- eye candy Weaknesses: - Geometry slightly too upright, top tube is too short. I'm only 5'6", but I went with the Large (56 cm) frame instead of Medium because I felt cramped on the Medium. Similar Products Used: hybrid bikes, mountain bikes
