Strengths: Nice bike to rideWeaknesses: Frame is weak. Design fault in chainstays, placement of vent holes makes frame subject to early fatigue crack. Warranty does not cover and Specialized's attitude is ignorent.Bottom Line: It was a nice bike to ride but frame did not last even as long as handlebar tapes. Chainstay snapped at 18000 km.

Strengths: Ride, Comfort, Simplicity, Weight.Weaknesses: Price, tires, brakes.Bottom Line: If I had to have only one bike this would be it. The frame design is very forgiving, moreso than most city or even hybrid bikes, but it responds more like a road bike when accelerating. The carbon forks, along with the taller tires this bike was designed to have,
make this a pleasure to ride. The bike tracks well, yet is responsive enough to take on the trails. I love having the option of getting off the road and riding on the dirt when I want to. And the narrower drop down handle bars actually work better in tight conditions. The brakes aren't the best, but they do the job.
I changed the gearing from 42:18 to 39:20 because I prefer a higher cadence. I thought having a single speed would limit my riding, but it's surprising how much energy and thought is wasted changing gears. With one gear riding becomes almost instinctual in that your body adjusts to the bike instead of the other way around. Just make sure that one gear is the best compromise of speed and ease for you.
I replaced the knobby tires that came with the bike with smoother and slightly narrower tires - the thrum of the knobby tires on pavement was making my hands numb on long rides. I also added a Serfa mid-size saddle because biking should be fun and not a pain in the ass.

Strengths: Ride (eats up vibration better than my S-Works SL), Handling (very predictable), urban looks (very mundane, doesn't draw attention).Weaknesses: PedalsBottom Line: Bike is actually a 2008 that I bought new out of the box. I was looking at Langsters but this deal came along. At 1st I questioned my decision but after commuting for 2 months (20 miles daily, 2 to 3 times a week)and now doing Saturday group rides I finding this SS a blast. As the honeymoon phase leaves I find this purchase to have been excellent.

Strengths: good carbon fork, excellent frame and metrics, inexpensiveWeaknesses: average brakes, lousy wheels, cheap tires, crank and BBBottom Line: this is a good, cheap CX bike before you realize that the alexrims wheels are crap, the tektro non canti brakes it comes with are crap, and the tires it comes with are neither good on road or off. the crank and BB are of average quality and don't like getting wet and muddy. the saddle is also uncomfortable, so by the time you address those problems you've spent an extra 800-1000 bucks and have a sweet ride, but no longer an inexpensive one.
