a Commuter
from Date Reviewed: August 6, 2009
Strengths: The wheels. I don't think I've seen a road bike with a tougher set. The components are solid, well, with the exception to the recalled stem. It's whisper quiet. Handles about right for a road bike with a rack. Very versatile frame.Weaknesses: The stock tires are bricks that don't allow fenders, tough though. Changed out to Ruffy Tuffys, recommend anyone to do the same. Don't care much for the included handlebar tape. Oh, and now Universalcycles exempted this bike along with others from coupons. I guess I coupon'd them one too many times. Sorry guys.Bottom Line: Bought the bike out of singlespeed curiousity, and the fact that I could apply a coupon towards it at Universal, so I jumped. Was riding a Long Haul Trucker as a commuter before. What a difference. While the trucker's a great commuter, it just wasn't any fun to ride. The Casseroll is. And covers ground much faster on my 12 mile (one way) or so commute. It knocks off ten minutes each way at the very least. Crazy. It handles just a touch slower than my Gunnar Sport, but much faster than my Long Haul Trucker. Very happy with the bike, no problems at all sofar.

Bike Setup: Stock except for saddle. And got rid of the ridiculous reflectors. Didn't put on the included chain guard.
