at Cycle Paul's Model Year: 2007 Favorite Ride: Night suburbs in top gear Bike Setup: Changed the All Conditions for Infinity Armadillos. Summary: Though I regret not going with the Tricross Sport for its reputed ability to handle harsher terrain, this bike has proven versatile enough. Strengths: Tougher than the sensitive road bikes I had as a kid. The rims haven't tacoed or warped through the countless inevitable potholes and gouges encountered on the Quebec roads. Weaknesses: The "All Condition Sport" front tire (with flak protection) burst on the first day I rode off the lot.

Price Paid:
$603.00
at Kozy's Model Year: 2007 Favorite Ride: Work Commute Bike Setup: Stock + old Cateye cyclocomputer. Summary: I just started bike commuting 7 miles each way, part bike path, part street. Last weekend I picked up a 2007 Specialized Sirrus Sport. I had done a couple commutes on my 2004 Gary Fisher Tassajara MTB with slicks. That bike left me tired and with sore wrists after 7 miles. The Sirrus is faster by at least a few MPH. The carbon fork and seat stay soak up the bumps. The ergo grips are easier on my wrists.
Strengths: Smooth, fast, decent price after LBS discount. Weaknesses: Sora rear derailleur. So far no problems, though. Similar Products Used: Tested Cannondale RW hybrid.

at Evans Cycles, UK Model Year: 2003 Summary: A very competitively priced bike, and just about the only choice of Hybrid between the cheap and nasty ones and the more expensive hybrids such as the Marin range.
A great commuter bike. I have had a couple of spectacular crashes on it and the frame is still fine. A nice compromise in strength between an MTB and Racer.
The saddle is also extremely comfortable, even on long rides. It looks a bit weird but it is much easier on the 'Crown Jewels' than a traditional saddle.
Learn how to true a wheel though as fast bike + crumby roads = bent wheels! Strengths: This is more like a racer with a straight bar than a mountain bike with slick tyres so it is very fast. Very lightweight compared to a MTB. The rims are slightly wider than a racing bikes so you have better rigidity and are able to fit bigger tyres (Up to about a 32c at least) Weaknesses: The no-name hubs on this bike are rubbish. the strongarm II crank does not shift as sweetly as Shimano and the cranks are easily stripped.
Having spent around £100 replacing them I still think the bike is excellent value, particularly if like me, you buy the previous years model for a discount.
Oh yeah, the suspension seatpost is a waste of time so you may as well buy the basic Sirrus and save your money!
Similar Products Used: Prior to this I have had various Mountain Bikes. This bike is noticeably faster than my last XC bike which I put slick tyres on to commute with.

at Tanner Bikes Model Year: 2006 Favorite Ride: To and from work Summary: I love this bike. I bought it for commuting to and from work (only 4 miles round trip)as well as for fitness. I chose a bike with flat handle bars for a more upright position. This is more back friendly for me. Shifts smooth. Fast acceleration. Comfortable seat. This is definately a step up from the hybrids I originaly looked at. This bike is for smooth pavement. Not really built for a dirt path. Mine weighed in at 24.5 lbs. Not bad for the price! This was sold as an entry level road bike. Perfect for my needs. I look forward to my commute, gliding thru the tree covered neighborhoods of Tyler Texas. This is a beautiful town. Somehow I missed it in my car with the windows rolled up. I also discovered just how hilly this town really is. Challenging going up, like ski runs going down. I love my sirrus sport. Strengths: Comfortable for those looking for a more upright position. Smooth shifting. Excellent acceleration. Price/lightweight ratio good. Weaknesses: None so far Similar Products Used: first bike since I was a kid during the 10 speed bike craze in the 1970's. I am now 50.
