at Full Cycle - Boulder Model Year: 2007 Favorite Ride: Lefthand Canyon Bike Setup: DA w/ 2008 Mavic Ksyrium SL, Ritchey WCS Carbon seatpost & 4-axis stem (alu), Selle Italia SLR, Continental Grand Prix 4000 tires, speedplay zero ti, elite carbon cages. 56cm & 15.3 lbs. Comes stock w/o pedals and cages at 15lbs even for a 56cm. Summary: I've owned this bike long enough now to be able to write a decent review about it.
The two best things about this bike are the weight and the road feel. I have never ridden a bike this fast and light and still felt so comfortable.
While climbing is always a challenge, the bike makes it helps tremendously and I've never felt so confident on climbs. On flat and open roads, the bike just surges forward and makes for a fast ride.
Half the time that I've owned the bike, I used the stock Mavic Cosmic Carbone Premium. The only reason I changed from those wheels is because I needed the cash at the time. The Ksyriums do lighten the bike about 200 grams but either way the bike is going to be under 15.5 lbs with pedals and cages. In my opinion, the stock Carbone are the better choice as they make up for the weight by being wicked fast on the flats.
Having ridden many other high end bikes, I am pleased to say that this is one of the best choices out there and that Slipstream are lucky to be riding such a great bike. Strengths: Extremely light, very good road feel like on any Felt, geometry. Also I wanted to point out that Felt's claimed weight on their website is extremely accurate. Weaknesses: -Front end is so light it can feel twitchy on descents and sprints. Takes some getting used to.
-Comes stock with a 12(or 11?)-23 cassette which isn't optimal for climbing.
-Felt's compression plug is not the best out there. The plug needs to be tightened very well to ensure the headset stays snug. Similar Products Used: S-Works Tarmac SL, Trek 2300, Giant OCR3
