Going from aluminum to carbon, I gotta say that the first thing I noticed was how much the carbon frame is able to dampen those road vibrations. The dampening effect is particularly encouraging on long bumpy patches of rural road where you can push a little harder and faster without increasing those unwanted "wow this road is bad effects." I first noticed this when I took the bike out for a test ride before buying and hit a patch of grainy asphalt, the bike seemed to just literally float over it and I even felt myself wanting to pick up speed. In comparison, hitting grainy asphalt on my old alunimum bike felt like I had just attached a paint shaker to my bike and I was usually quick to slow down.
The other bonus of this bike is definetly the weight, although comparable to most other carbon bikes, if you're thinking of crossing over from a steel/aluminum bike just imagine tossing away 5-15 lbs. It's definitely huge when you're biking hills and you're that much lighter.
The grouppo I got with this bike is the red/force with mavic cosmic elite wheels. The red/force grouppo is simply amazing, it took a few rides to get used to the new shifting style after coming from the shimano shifters but I'm definetly loving the SRAM style now.
Oh, and this bike corners like a beast, absolutely unreal control going through the corners.
The only things I wasn't overly stoked about were the tires which I quickly switched to continental Grand Prix tri's (my favorite tire) as the stock tires were a little heavy... and the cartridge bearings (which is really just personal preference for me. I had gotten used to tuning my hub ball bearings about once a month and reaping the rewards of lightning fast hubs for little cost (ball bearings are cheap) but with the cartridge bearings I've lost this little hobby. However, the cartridge's hold up way better in the rain which I'm definetly a fan of.
Great Frame (geometry, weight, feel are all strengths)
Amazing Cornering
Incredible Price

I finally decided to upgrade from my 2000 aluminum frame bike. As I’ve never ridden a full carbon fiber before I wasn’t sure what to expect. I kept an open mind for the first 120 miles and have settled into the bike. It’s much stiffer but to be honest I’m not sure if it’s much “faster” overall. But the HUGE difference is the feel of the road. Road vibration and the feel of every little road imperfection are gone. It took awhile to get used to but after the first few days it was a huge difference on the endurance side. A two hour ride seemed like a warm up. I’m still getting used to the SRAM shifters and the gearing but overall very impressed. Great value. Thanks Carbon Connection for taking the time to set it up right.
A little heavy. Same weight as my 2000 aluminum frame.
Where else are you going to get a full carbon with these components for $3K? It's grown on me to be a very impressive bike.
