Strengths: Great riding bike. Very light, smooth, stiff, and a great descending bike. A great looking bike that draws attention everywhere it goes.Weaknesses: Quality problems with the bike frame. Warranty process requires you to send frame back to Canada and you will be out of a bike for a little while.Bottom Line: This was my dream bike when I got it, but unfortunately, like all good things, the dream did not last. First, the good. The bike rides and handles great. The frame is stiff and accelerates well under hard sprints. Fast downhill descents are stable and smooth, and only limited by how fast I am willing to go. The bike seems to glide over rough roads - I never seem to feel the bumps, nor do I feel sore from riding on non-smooth roads. Now the bad - over the past two plus years that I have been riding it - the bike has experienced some quality issues. First, I found a 2 inch crack in the downtube (you can actually slip a piece of paper into the crack). I sent it back to Guru for repair (which I had to pay for since I was the second owner although the original owner used it as a demo bike in a bicycle shop - I had no problem with paying for the repair since I understand the warranty policy). The repair entailed replacing the bottom bracket, down tube and the chainstays. About 15 months after the repair, the metal sleeve insert in the bottom bracket has debonded and the insert now protrudes out the drive side (causing the entire bottom bracket/crank assembly to wiggle back and forth significantly, rendering the bike not rideable, lest I want to take a chance and destroy the carbon bottom bracket shell). I have emails to Guru to see what they are willing to do to remedy this. After this last incident, I did a google search and found other instances of Guru owners experiencing quality problems. Another issue is that you have to return the frame to Guru for repair, and shipment to Canada isn't cheap even if you use USPS. With other manufacturers, if they decide to warranty it, they just give you another frame. My particular frame was a stock frame (not custom made to my specs) but I can see why they want you to return it to Canada since many of their customers have built to order custom frames.

Strengths: The bike rode well for a year.Weaknesses: Inherent frame design flaw. Catastrophic frame failure.
Refusal of the company to honor their warranty.Bottom Line: Bought this bike in June of 2009 and had it custom built. Spend a small fortune.
I would best describe the ride as organic and was pleased although not overwhelmed with the ride (i have since purchased an Orbea Orca with the same components (DA 7900-Zipp 303) which is a dream race bike). The seat tube suffered a catastrophic failure when i rode over some railroad tracks (about 4000 miles on the bike). The tube suffered a 360 degree break near the seat stay. The bike never suffered a crash nor any poor handling.
When i sent photos of the damage to Guru, their immediate reaction was that i must have done something to the bike, that their bike could not fail in the way indicated, and that they would not honor the warranty. Their position has not changed.
I recently learned of another similar failure of a Geneo by someone from Arkansas. Not only did the seat tube break but the chainstay tubes also suffered cracks. While the seat tube damage could have been caused by the owner forcing a overlong seat tube into the frame, the other damage did not have any 'user' cause. This bike was less than a year old. Again, Guru refused to honor the warranty despite the 'unprovoked' damage to the chain stay area.
It appears that these bikes have an inherent design flaw. Further, it would appear that Guru does not value customer service or their customer base. I will never buy anything this company makes and would like to issue a word of caution to any one considering purchasing their product. I work in a large manufacturing corporation as a program manager and can't imagine being in business long if we were to treat our customers in a similar vein.

Strengths: A bike as an extension of oneself.Weaknesses: Definitely bling bling to the eyes. Not big on all of the ooos and aahhhs it evokes.Bottom Line: Bought this bike in 2009.
Sweet, sweet ride and beautiful looking bike (opted for the $750 paint job). The best description that i have heard of the ride experience is 'organic' which suits it ideally. This bike does not feel like a climber or a sprinter but does both very well. The bike fits me like it is another appendage; i suppose this should be expected as it was custom made to my measurements. This is a bike that i will keep until i can't ride anymore.
The people at V3 Multisport in Arlington were second to none in getting me set-up and in customer service. These guys are exemplary.

Strengths: It's custom -Built for me
Rides great, really dialed in feel.
Looks sharpWeaknesses: None with the Guru. It's a keeper: the first bike I've ever "locked up" while in my garage..
I just can't settle on a decent saddle-that is in line with the high calibur of the bike. My butt likes the $39 Specialized saddle; my eye likes the $120 Fizik. After a ride of 30 miles on the Fizik, my behind is screaming "Specialize Me". Also my bike guy won't sell me a cheap saddle for this bike... A delimma.Bottom Line: Built for me-due to back issue: the frame is a 60cm front with a 57.5cm rear triangle.
Rides great-real solid; looks even better.. Bought the high-end paint job ($750) that usually comes only on the limited model. Pricey for a bike's paint job, but you should see it in the sunlight!!

Strengths: Fast, light, maneuverable, very sweet looking.Weaknesses: A bit of rough feel on rough roads.Bottom Line: After 20 years with a steel frame, I purchased this new carbon wonder. The aerodynamic looks and paint job sold me. It was love at first clipin.
