    Model Year:

    Summary:
I've had my IBEX Aprisa 5600 for about a month now and rode about 60 miles on it, not a lot but I'm not a serious rider just trying to stay in shape with biking and running. I was skeptical about buying from an online retailer, but after shopping at various SoCal bike shops, I decided that I wasn't going to spend $1000 or more for a bike that basically has the same components as the IBEX bike. Plus the bike stores can be intimidating for a novice like myself. The bike arrived ahead of schedule, took me about 1-2 hours to unpack and put the bike together... an easy install. The bike handles very well and I love it.... my previous bike was a Cannondale hybrid that was about 7 lbs heavier than the IBEX so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. I would buy from IBEX again... hassle free and a decent bike with a decent price.

    Price Paid:  $699.00 at Ibexbikes.com

    Model Year:
    2006

    Favorite Ride:
    any

    Bike Setup:
105's all around, inc. flight deck shifters, Maxxis Hors 130 psi tires, specialized B&G saddle, R550 rims and hubs, R540 self adjusting pedals.

    Summary:
An absolute rocket! The guys at Ibex were patient and great tech-nitions, I spent over an hour with them on the phone for help. I am no kind of mechanic when it comes to the front and rear D's. They came so far out of tune I couldn't even turn the cranks over! So a quick $25 trip to the experts at Cyclepath in Hayward CA and the bike was dialed in, I took it for a century ride my first time out and the perfomance was flawless, shimano 105's all around and 30 speeds shifted perfectly. The ride was so smoooth I forgot I was peddaling and the carbon fiber forks and seat post made for a great ride. The bike is lavender and not blue as the web sight suggests but I got so many compliments on the bike at the LBS I didn't care! Once dialed in all the components worked in great harmony. I recently refurbished an older bike with all dura ace/ Integra and this bike kills it! Throw the saddle it comes with away, unless you are not male, OUCH!!!!-Steve.

    Strengths:
Low weight, great components, and very responsive and fast!

    Weaknesses:
Derailluers came all out of wack and the saddle wasn't rideable.

    Price Paid:  $0.00 at Ibex

    Model Year:
    2005

    Favorite Ride:
    Italian backroads

    Summary:
Although a good bike in the end I had many initial headaches with the Ibex company.

First I was enthused that they would ship to an APO address. Sometimes it is difficult to get products like this shipped to an USPS APO box overseas.

The product shipped late with the wrong Front Derailleur. Furthermore, the bike is listed as Smoke Blue Metallic. The bike is clearly a shade of purple. I have asked dozens of people what color they think my bike is. They all say purple, lavender, etc. Never blue or a shade of blue. The box it was shipped in even says STORM PURPLE. I told the company not to ship me the bike if it was purple. They insisted it was not. The storm purple bike arrived. I told Ibex the box even says purple. They insisted it was smoke blue metallic. Look at the bike on the website. The color swatch looks nothing like the color of the bike on the site. I needed the bike right away so shipping it back wasn't really an option for me.

Like I said, in the end, I like the bike. But, the Front Derailleur and color issue would keep me from doing business with Ibex again.

    Price Paid:  $834.00 at Ibex

    Model Year:
    2005

    Favorite Ride:
    Foothills Trail

    Bike Setup:
Aluminum frame with carbon fork and carbon seatpost. Shimano 105 gruppo, Shimano 550 wheelset, clipless pedals, Hors Categorrie tires, Truvativ Elita triple crank. Ibex Roadsport saddle.Tektro 20G calipers.

    Summary:
I bit the bullet, gritted my teeth and went ahead and ordered the Classic 5600 sight unseen other than the picture from the website. The delivery date was postponed a week so I had to be patient. When it was delivered, it had the wrong front derailleur. Ibex caught the error and sent out the correct part. Of course this mistake caused a trip to the LBS for installation. Ibex paid for the installation. The bike otherwise is as advertised. It's very light and responsive. I'm still figuring out the shifting, but the LBS has helped me with great advice. As soon as I put a few miles on it, I will be better able to evaluate the features.

    Strengths:
lightweight at 20 pounds, 105 throughout, nice paint.

    Weaknesses:
Weak owners manual for those who need specific instructions on assembly. Will need to ride some distance before I can evaluate, but so far the bike seems well put together.Welds look strong albeit not very smooth.

    Similar Products Used:
First time buyer of a road bike with this many speeds (30). My old bike was a twelve speed with shifters on the post.
