Tiagra Group, Cassette Rear Hub, Crank Arms
Out of the box quality and Made in China
Purchased the Triumph 5.0 56mm to upgrade from my Big Box store Schwinn aluminum frame bike, the list price on the bike was an astounding $899.00 and I was a little skeptical of the build quality from the pictures and the information I could find. Major Components Shimano Tiagra, WTB Wheels w/700x27c Vittoria Zaffiro Tires, FSA CK-400TTT Crankset, Crank Brothers Smarty Pedals, Ergo IH Bars w/IH Stem, Tektro R356 Brakes, IH Carbon Fork with Chromo Steer Tube. Selle Italia Seat.
I've read a couple of the reviews of the IH 5.0 workmanship and really had thought maybe they were one of occurrences. Received the bike and I was hoping it would have been manufactured in North America but it was sourced from off shore. This would account for the varying workmanship issues.
The Bike I received had all of them. The bar plug was missing from the Left Hand Side. The bar tap was somewhat loose. Also there was a gouge on the Left inside fork leg in the carbon fiber resin. Since this is last year's (2007) model, replacement parts were unavailable and no local bike shops were authorized dealers for IH. Amazon did make an adjustment because there were not replacements available.
I had to make some Small adjustments(truing) to the wheels to snug the spokes before being ridden. The wheels were also out of round but left it as is. Also there is a squeak in the front wheel bearing that is yet to work itself out. The Bar Bend doesn’t seem right either. I’ve adjusted several times and I just can’t get them perfect. There either too high or too low. The seat had to go. It was un-ridable beyond 5miles. I replaced it with my Selle Italia Ti Gel seat. Rear brake cable flexes the bar tape when applied and stopping power is a little weak. The front operates perfect and I use it the most anyway so its not a big deal. The Smarty Pedals were another dissapontment. Way too much float and have a solid feel pedaling up hills. I switched them out with my Shimano SPD's and problem solved.
All the fasterners were loose and I had to adjust everything.
I have put about 500 training miles on the bike and it seems to perform average. I’m 5-11 @ 225# and know how to rally stress equipment. It does take my hill climbs without much frame flex and the drive train seems to be holding up ok. Locked into my fluid trainer the frame flex is more pronounced especially at high load levels. The Tiagra Components shift dependably on road on in the trainer.
My previous bike came from a Big Box Store which honestly was on par in workmanship/quality with the IH 5.0 but $300 cheaper.
I've ridden bicycles all my life and competitively raced Bmx and Rode Trails/Dirt Jumped for several years. Was looking for an Intermediate level bicycle for endurance training/sprint triathlons and didn't want to drop a small fortune on a halfway decent bike but the Tiagra components make up the difference.

stiff light good fit im 6,2 with a 34.5 standover its a 61 cm
front deralier drops chain everyonce in a while. had the shop try to adjust but may have to again.
i use this bike for club rides triathlons and commuting. it works great for all three. cannot stress the importance of getting the right fitting bike and getting it fit right. ive been able to do 1-2 hr workouts without pain when i use to experience low back pain after 20 minutes expecially when climbing. This bike climbs like a champ and is great for flats, havenot done alot of downhills yet i did get a little wobble from the carbon fork when doing over 40 mph in the pyramid lake triathlon on a downhill section. but just changed my position and it went away

It's reasonably light, has the latest shifter/brake combo (plus extra brake handles on to of the bars), carbon fork, is very comfortable even on long rides, and is built with typical Iron Horse quality. A great value.
None so far that I've noticed.
I've been mtn biking for a number of years and have heard that road riding is great for conditioning. Also, my wife bought a road bike in the fall and I thought it would be good to spend more time riding with her. Anyway, I was looking for an entry level bike and after checking out many, found this one for a good price. My wife's mtn bike is an Iron Horse so we know how well they're built.

Solid frame, nice paint and welds. Oversized stem and bars, extra break levers, The value when purchased from mailorder.
Rear wheels were a little out of true out of the box.
I wanted to upgrade my wife and myself from mountain bikes to road bikes. We maostly ride rails to trails and enter bike tours, so our riding is on pave surfaces. I knew if we continued to ride as much as we did this summer that we would soon want to drop some serious cash on carbon fibre bikes. The Iron horse triumphs fit the bill for great entry level bikes. The price I paid will not leave me with regret when I get the bug to upgrade in a year ot two. As for these bikes, excellent paint and welds. We have the blue and in the sun the metal flake sparkles. I bought both mail order so I had to put them together. 15 minutes ready to ride and another 15 to adjust the derailleurs followed by 15min to true rear wheels. These are reasonably lite. My 54" is about 23 pounds with my heavy brooks saddle. These are as quick and responsive as 2005 trek 1000's I rode and at a 400 dollar savings for 2 bikes. I love the extra brakes levers on the tops of the bars, they work great when casually riding off the hoods or out of the drops. I used the saving to by shimano 105 derailleurs for both and the shifting has become more crisp and precise the the original sora ones, a great upgrade for 55 bucks front and rear. The wheels are alex RPD15 seam to roll smooth.
