Bike Setup: 60cm frame, Ultegra group; Ritchey wheels, stem and bars. Carbon fork and seat post from easton.
Summary: This is a great frame. I got this frame just as Kona started making them. I needed a new frame and thought why not? The Scandium is much more durable than aluminum (doesn't fatigue at welds like aluminum eventually does) and is responsive like most high end aluminum bikes. Yet its definitely smooth as any high end steel frame out there. I love settling in and racking up the miles on this one.
Strengths: Light and responsive like an 7000 series aluminum but not nearly as harsh on the long rides. Scandium-aluminum is a plus for its added endurance and handling qualities.
Weaknesses: Two bolts connect at the carbon seat stays and the scandium chain stays. This bolt came loose after a about 2 months of riding causing a creak noise that sounded like loose bottom bracket threads. Removed them, applied some more locktite and tightenned them up again. No problem since.
