Summary:
After 18 years of riding a Trek Mtn Bike, I realized all my riding was on paved roads. A review of the available models pointed to a 2006 or 2007 Lemond Reno as the best package for the price. The bike has all the benefits and drawbacks of an aluminum framed bike but the Carbon Forka nd Seat Post help smooth out the ride... and do a nice job of it. In a foolish fit of cost reduction, the 2008 models no longer offer the Tiagra Shifters and front Deraileur and instead use the Sora Shifters and front Deraileur. Overall, the bike offeres an excellent starter to intermediate package asking little be changed to accomodate the casual orbeginner rider. To find the same equipment in a current competing model the price is hundreds more. If you can find a 2007 in your size, it's a bargain at closeout pricing. Looked for a 2007 model but couldn't find my size...I found a 2006 almost new with shimano commuter pedals and a nice cateye computer added for a nice (way below new price) price.

Strengths:
Frame Geometry and Sizes are just right for longer bodies

Shimano Tiagra/105 Package is excellent

Quality build

Weaknesses:
People complain about the breaks - mine work fine

Quality Seat but reports it's not the most comfortable

Summary:
I have been riding a 1989 mountain bike casually for many years and decided it was time to get more serious about riding like I was in my youth. I am 47, almost 6 feet tall with a 31" inseam and after riding a 55cm frame it felt like my bike, geometry is perfect for someone looking for a road bike to ride as a recreational rider. Sales person thought for sure I needed a 57cm frame but it made me feel I was reaching for the handlebars. This bike is smooth...... my 2006 must have been produced late in the model year because it has the Bontrager SSR wheel system like the 20007 models now have. I hope to work up to 50+ miles rides on weekends and glad I purchased a entry level bike that can handle more than I can dish out for now.

Strengths:
105 rear derailleur, carbon front fork, SSR rims, carbon seat post, 9 speed cassette/triple gear crankset, light weight, nice silver and black color combo.

Weaknesses:
seat - wont make 50 miles rides very enjoyable

Summary:
I am new to road biking, so I cannot compare this bike to others. Although, I demoed a couple of Treks, a specialized and a Giant, I liked to feel of the lemond so I went with it. I have no regrets, the first week I had the Reno I rode over 150 miles. If you are looking for a good bike to go really fast recreationally or light racing this is your bike! It has served me well the last couple of months and I am happy with it. The brakes that came on it are terrible, they have no stopping power and they grind loudly, so I upgraded to Shimano 105 (much better). Also the Bontrager select tires are not as grippy as I would have liked them to have been, so now im riding Vittoria Rubinos. Other than those minor things this bike is wonderful and im sure it will give me many more years of service.

Summary:
Good bike for the $$. I am an old fat amn, so I raised the bars for a more comfortable ride.

Strengths:
Price. and a damn fine looking bike, red & black, God's colors (Go Dawgs!) Not a cookie cutter Trek. Sadly, they changed to a boring white & red now

Weaknesses:
Brakes are sh*t. Upgraded to Ultegra.

Bike Setup:
Kept tiagra front der. switched crank for FSA carbon, ultegra shifters and rear der., stock fork and wheels, truvativ stem, selle seat w/stock post, shimano pedals.

Summary:
Great bike for the price! Got a great deal on it and am totally happy with it. The fit is why I chose a Lemond. Slack angles help due to shorter legs than my torso. Smooth as it gets for aluminum anyway. Great deal for a well built bike.

Strengths:
Stiff as a board so you can get on top of the cranks well, good for crit/climb rides. Easy upkeep and upgrade compatibility. Solid for the money, same frame as the high end tourmalet model. Great trainer or first bike.

Weaknesses:
It's aluminum, not good for long rides. Had to change out some stock stuff. Comes with Tiagra, should be 105 mixed in. Bontrager tires
