Strengths:    Light, stiff, aero machine. World class customer service. Not plastic! Superior craftsmanship.

Weaknesses:    Frame is on the high end but consider that each frame is hand made and not molded in Asia.

Bottom Line:
I think my hobby is buying bikes. I've had about everything out there. Over 17 years- Treks, Litespeeds, Cervelos, Italian frames. You name it. Lynskey is first class with customer service that is second to none. The 430 is stiff and smooth! Folks, tis is the "real deal". Drop the imports.... go domestic and ride a Lynskey. Try to get a cracked carbon from repaired or replaced by your local shop. If you do, you'll understand what I mean. They have $500 in a $3000 frame but want warrant it. Again, give these guys a try!

Strengths:    It was light. Comfortable during cruisey rides.

Weaknesses:    Felt flimsy, Front end sketchy, Too narrow chain stays causing scalloping.

Bottom Line:
I bought the Lynskey R430 after being told it would suit my riding style. I am a big bloke and put a fair bit of power out. I got he BB30 variant. On a cruisey ride this bike is great. But under race conditions this bike was a great disappointment. The front end was flexie and the back end with the BB 30 BB was too narrow causing a scalloping of the inner tubes of the chain stays. The handling was sketchy at best and the front end always felt like it was ready to give way.

Strengths:    Stiffness, high-quality fit and finish, very smooth ride

Weaknesses:    Not as aesthetically pleasing to me as the more classic round tubes, but, hey, this is about function over form. Modernists might even prefer the stealth-plane look of the R430.

Bottom Line:
I do not have extensive experience with testing lots of different bikes, but I do ride several thousand miles a year and most enjoy climbs and long-distance rides. I have always read about stiffer bikes making a big difference in climbing, and although I understood the logic, I was skeptical about the reality. I also figured stiff would equal harsh, so it was with some trepidation that I acquired and built up this frame. I am astounded and amazed. This bike is an unbelievable climber and I find myself climbing the hardest hills in two sprockets smaller than before. And the ride is actually smoother than almost anything I have ridden (I don't have much carbon experience though). While the Edge fork is no doubt a contributor to the ride, I am impressed that the Lynskey engineers can reach this degree of extreme stiffness without any harshness whatsoever. I had thought this wouild just be my climbing bike but it will clearly be the distance bike as well. Lysnkey is a pleasure to deal with and, unlike the big companies, they have a focus on uncompromising customer satisfaction like no company I have ever dealt with. I strongly recommend this frameset gets a good look by anyone in the market for a very stiff bike.

Strengths:    A very nice ride--if you have only ridden steel or aluminum bikes. Compared to a top end Look, time or cervelo for performance and feel, or to a seven or IF for titanium finish--Its not happening.

Weaknesses:    Not a great climber, not that light, not that smooth, not that fast and not that pretty. Not that much fun to ride. Not particularly durable either. The welds that held the bottle cages bolt receiver on even came loose. Come on!

Bottom Line:
Just a brief review. I had this bike 2 years ago for about 6 months. Big disappointment. I had an r420, and I was all excited about it for like a year before, but it was a big dud. The workmanship was nowhere near as good as on my old seven axiom, and I suspect moots is better too, and IF is definitely better as well. The paint was thin, and the bike was slower and less comfortable than a cervelo R3. It did not feel solid like the seven, and it was not nearly as beautiful to look at either. I ride a Look 595 ultra now, which is superior in every way to the lynskey. The lynskey is not a bad bike, but compared to what is out there-- it just does not make any sense. Sorry to trash it, Im sure they tried.
