Strengths: Road dampening without any compromise in power transfer. Corners like on rails. Stunning looks.Weaknesses: Cost, but if cycling is important to you and you have the cash - worth whatever is asked for it.Bottom Line: There is only one word to describe the ride of this frame - WOW! Bought this on a whim from a guy on craig's list. Frame only, slight crack on top tube - unknown if structural. Sent to Calfee Design and appox. $400 and six weeks later the frame is back with a minor repair and completely new clear coat of all carbon tubes. Looks brand new. Intalled dura ace 7900 and Edge wheel set aand fork (2.0)and I have the best bang I've ever gotten for my buck! The ride is not comparable to anything (includine other high end ti and carbon frames) I've ever ridden - plush where you want and stiff where it needs to be.

Strengths: Great ride, dampens uneven surfaces, stiff bottom bracket, climbs excellently, super looking welds, and beautiful frame. Great warranty (life time warranty to original purchaser) and customer service.Weaknesses: None........other than priceBottom Line: The review is for the 2009 Cielo which has a CF top tube section and CF down tube section. This bike was warranty replacement/upgrade of a 1996 Merlin Extralight, which developed a crack originating at the seat tube bottom bracket joint on the crank side and the crack moved up and aft 1/4 way around the seat tube. Compared to the extralight the ride is smoother on uneven surfaces, and the bottom bracket is stiffer, probably due to the 1 1/8" tubes vs the 1" tubes used on the '96 extralight. Customer service from Merlin (American Bicycle Group) was excellent, from the time I contacted Merlin to the time I was riding the "replacement" the whole process was 2 1/2 weeks.
Favorite Ride: anything with hills

Strengths: Beautiful frame, incredible workmanship. Fast and stable.Weaknesses: Honestly can't think of any. Perhaps cost, but this level of quality cannot be cheap.Bottom Line: It bogles my mind that few people seem to ride this bike. I guess it is the price. The Cielo is the finest riding bike I have ever ridden. Fast, comfortable, predictable, precise...and georgeous.
