Price Paid:  $2000.00 at www.bikes.com.au

Favorite Ride:
Brisbane river loop

Bike Setup:
52cm 2009 CR1 Comp (Tiagra, SH-R500),
Ultegra SL triple group,
Mavic Ksyrium Elites wheels,
Hutchinson Fusion 2 tubeless tires,
FSA 44mm K-force compact carbon handlebars, Ritchey Pro stem,
Ritchey Pro carbon seat post,
Specialized Toupe 143mm saddle.
< 8.0Kg with accessories.

Summary:
I bought the lowest spec (Comp) 2009 model and replaced the group set and wheel set immediately. Then needed to replace the stock handlebars because the reach on the hoods is simply far too long on a small frame. The drops were more comfortable, until my arms hurt from being locked out. Larger riders should be right. Cut 200g to 300g easy by replacing the brick saddle. Carbon frame plus tubeless is like a magic carpet ride.

Strengths:
Price,
Stiffness,
Comfort,
Weight,
Groupset choices.

Weaknesses:
Heavy saddle,
Unproportioned handlebars on small frames,
Non replaceable derailleur hanger.

Price Paid:  $1800.00 at Online LBS

Model Year:
2007

Favorite Ride:
Oak Mtn. State Park

Bike Setup:
Stock as it came. Full Ultegra, Mavic Elite wheelset.

Summary:
This review is also for the 2008 model. Little has changed from the 2007 model, and little was changed on the 2009 model. So, this should still apply.

I am pleased with the strength of the frame, a Large in my case, as I am 6' tall and near 200lbs. No flex detected after about 1400 miles and 3 months. I am pleased with the shifting, and the cornering is right as it should be. The road vibration is less than what I experienced in all of my aluminum frame machines I've owned. The bike is light, but not crazy light, stock, though I'm sure a lighter grouppo and wheelset could make it feather weight. I'm such a big-but myself, weight is hardly a selling point to me.

Strengths:
Great groupset, complete Ultegra 10 speed.
Strong wheelset, Mavic Elite.
Strong, responsive frame, with no noticeable flex.

Weaknesses:
Seat is weird.
Tires are absolute junk and should be replaced quickly. My tires actually had imperfections and started to thread apart after 1000 miles.

Price Paid:  $1500.00 at Langsett cycles

Model Year:
2007

Favorite Ride:
Cuckney '10 mile TT (7pm wed nights)

Bike Setup:
Stock, but with new tires, new seat and new stem!

Summary:
I have actually got the 2008 CR1 pro. I have trained and raced on this bike now for 6 months. It is superb but only has ONE DOWNSIDE: the seat post is crap! I have put a flight saddle on for racing and the post will not keep it flat. No matter how much i tighten it or even wedge metal in, it will not stay flat.

Beside this, I would give the bike 10/10 for performance. The Bike is excellent.

Strengths:
The frame geometry, the wheels, the weight, the ride quality.

Weaknesses:
The seat post, the weight of the wheels alone, the hutchinson stock tires (upgrade to mitchelin pro 3 -please!)

Price Paid:  $0.00 at Bow Cycle, Calgary

Model Year:
2007

Bike Setup:
Stock, except for Vittoria Open Pave tires and the Selle Italia Flite saddle, and Dura-Ace cables/housing

Summary:
(This is for the 2008 CR1 Pro, not the 2007)

When I blew out the head-tube of my Trek 5200 (after many years of hard riding, it was a great bike!) I picked up the 2008 CR1 Pro from Bow Cycle in Calgary. Impressions after 6 months or so are that it's a very quick bike. Handling is super-responsive, frame is super-stiff.

In comparison to my 5200, it seems to be a harsher ride. Not uncomfortable at all, but I definitely feel the road more. I've ended up putting a set of Vittoria Pave rubber on to help soak this up a bit more.

For fit I've got a more "short leg, long torso" build, and am generally after a more aggressive race position on the bike. I'm 5'10 and got the M frame. Slammed the stem all the way down and am very happy after some work on positioning the shift levers on the bar. I really notice that I'm super comfortable in the drops on this sled.

What else? The OEM Ultegra compact gruppo works great. In fact it worked well enough that I took the Dura-Ace from my Trek and put it on my CX bike. The Scott-branded bar/stem work well for me. I actually like the shallow drop on the bar far more than I liked the K-Wing I was riding previously! Still, I'm considering putting some carbon bars in the near future. The only semi-significant change from stock other than tires was the saddle. Put on a Flite instead of the Scott branded rock that was on there when I bought it.

Cosmetically the bike looks great. The big weave is so sweet in the sunshine!

I haven't experienced any of the creaking that other reviewers have mentioned. The only creaks I had were from the cables/housing and went away when I replaced it (went to Dura-Ace from the stock Jagwire stuff pretty quick).

All in all I would suggest that this is an excellent bike for someone looking for something that can be ridden all day, but still wants a very quick handling bike. A complete race rocket out of the box, but be aware (especially you crit racers!) that, as noted by many reviewers, the R derailleur hanger is NOT replaceable. If you want to race, this could be a big issue!

Strengths:
- handling! An absolute dream, especially compared to the Trek 5200 it replaced. Easy to change lines when needed, but it carves corners like crazy

- geometry: for my body type and the aggressive position that I favour, it's easy to get set-up

- frame quality: just seems great. Very stiff, but not overly harsh (I vary from 160-180lbs depending on time of year)

Weaknesses:
- derailleur hanger: not replaceable. This seems pretty weak for what was the Scott high-end race frame prior to the Addict.

- value for $$$???: I love this bike, but when I look at the value you can get from some of the big brands (Cannondale, especially) it's a bit of a tough sell for those who aren't really geeky about this stuff! That being said, it sure seems like a good deal when compared to the Cervelo stuff I was semi-lusting after!

Price Paid:  $1000.00 at ebay.com

Model Year:
2007

Favorite Ride:
Dublin Danville to Highland Livermore Loop

Bike Setup:
Weight for a XXL(61cm)is 15.84lb or @ 7200g built with Dura-Ace, Mavic Cosmic Carbone and FSA controls. Fast.

Summary:
My bike is actually an 2008.
I purchased used off ebay.com. Frame / Fork. Then built up.
It's excellent, plush, smooth ride. Very, very stiff in the BB and headtube. Fork is very response as well. The CR1 is so much more superior bike then I'm used to. It's got an upright headtube, and shorter top tube then I'm used to, which really helped my lower back out. It's fast, climbs nice, and I don't feel beaten up after 50mile rides. I've only been out 5x on it. But I'm in really liking it. Best bike I've owned so far. I've also owned a Colnago Dream, CAAD5, CAAD3, and FELT and FORT TT. I will not go back to Aluminum frames after this. No comparison. Some mention the rear hanger issue? I've owned 10 or so road bikes in the last 25 years. Never once bent a der hanger. If it happens, then repair time.

BTW, I'm 6'4" and weigh in around 240lb. I'm also a 12% body fat, which is not bad at 42 years old. This bike handles me very well.
No flex at all.

Strengths:
Workmanship is great, build is straight and true. Naked Carbon with minimal graphics.
STIFF, Light, Smooth ride. Upright geometrey, supple seatstays. I can ride 50 plus miles and not have my back feel like I need a massage afterwards. I also feel the price is too good to pass up.

Weaknesses:
Some mention rear hanger, I would agree it would be a nice to have, but not mandatory.
