Strengths:    Great bike for the money, especially if you get it on clearance/sale. It really is a lightning fast and responsive bike.

Weaknesses:    A few items are so-so...like most stock bikes. FSA chainrings stink, wheels are mediocre.

Bottom Line:
This review is for the 2012 Elite Mid compact which is the exact same bike outside of a few things:

Cassette: 105 '12 - Tiagra '13
Saddle: Romin '12 - Toupe '13
Wheels: Fulcrum Racing 6 '12 - DT Axis 3.0 '13

The bike is a SL2 model and rides wonderfully. The handling is crisp and confident and like any race bike, the ride can be a bit harsh at times but that is to be expected. Bone stock, it came from Specialized weighing just over 18lbs is my scale is telling the truth.

I know there are higher tier Tarmacs, but for me this bike is lightning fast and is a better bike than I am a rider. The confidence it gives you constantly pushes you to ride harder, climb faster and take corners harder than you thought you could. In other words, I am very pleased with it.

Complaints? Like usual, the stock wheels on mine (Fulcrum Racing 6) are extremely heavy (just under 2K grams) and the stock crank chainrings are trash. I upgraded to Praxis/ROL and solved the problem.
