Price Paid:  $3250.00 at Trek Store of St. Lo

Model Year:
2006

Favorite Ride:
Trek SSLx Limited Production bike

Bike Setup:
It is a stock 56cm frame. I am running Shimano Dura-Ace Tubless Wheels and Hutchinson Fusion 2 Tubeless tires...they have a great road feel like Tubular tires.

Summary:
I found this rare SSLx at the Trek store and had been looking at it for a while. Since it lists for $9995 (out of most cyclist's price range) no one had bought it. They finally dropped the price way down to $3250 and I bought it in Feb 2008 while business was slow. It is very light and stiff. I really like the way it handles. I am running Dura Ace Tubeless wheels on it.

Strengths:
Light weight at just over 15 lbs. Great feel... light and responsive, does not flex. Dura-ace components are tried and true performers...awesome. Everything works well together.

Weaknesses:
It really has no weaknesses, unless you don't like all of the Discovery Team and Shimano graphics all over it.

Similar Products Used:
High end Scott carbon frames and other road bikes.

Price Paid:  $4999.00 at Trek Store Colombus,

Model Year:
2006

Favorite Ride:
Parks and River Road

Bike Setup:
Dura Ace 7800 double; Bontrager Race XXX Lite carbon clincher wheels & seat post, Bontrager Raxe X Lite Carbon handle bars.

Summary:
Great Bike! More than I deserve. The bike is super light and faster than any other I've ridden. Project One paint is awesome.

Strengths:
The bike is fast, light and stiff. Power transfer is great. No disappointments with the bike. The components are the best--from Trek's best frame (and rarest), to the Dura Ace components and the best Bontrager carbon wheels, seat post and handle bars.

Weaknesses:
The AMD and Discovery decals are a bit too much.

Similar Products Used:
Cannondale Six13, Trek Madone SL 5.2 & SSL 6.5

Price Paid:  $4999.00 at Trek Store Colombus,

Model Year:
2006

Favorite Ride:
Louisville Parks & River Road

Bike Setup:
Durae Ace 7800, Bontrager XXX Lite clincher wheels, seatpost, Race X light carbon handlebars.

Summary:
This bike rocks! It is very stiff, and super light. The bike is responsive and fairly compliant. Its geometry is aggressive and only on a rare occasion have I been passed while riding this bike. The components are great--dura ace and the best Bontrager has to offer.

Strengths:
Great frame (super light and only a handful exist), with super components. USA made and the best. Nearly all carbon.

Weaknesses:
Price, but you get what you pay for. Better than Italian bikes with little manufacturer support and service.

Similar Products Used:
Trek Madone 5.2, 5.2 SL and Madone SSL 6.5, Cannondale Six13.

Price Paid:  $9900.00 at The Hub, Aspen

Model Year:
2006

Favorite Ride:
Menton-Madone

Bike Setup:
Stock.

Summary:
The best I have ever ridden. Changed saddle and stem, everything else is stock. Very stiff and seems to absorb the bumbs.

Strengths:
Bottom bracket area is noticably stiffer than 5900.

Weaknesses:
Carbon clinchers are very light, but not so stable with my 190 pounds at speeds over 40mph.

Similar Products Used:
Trek 5900, 5200.

Strengths:
Stiff and light. Bontrager XXX team clincher wheels.

Weaknesses:
hahahahahaha!
