Strengths: STIFF, good price, very fast. LOOOOVEEE the San Marco Aspide saddle, very cushy after breaking in.
Weaknesses: Heavy, 105 components, and lower level bontrager parts. Wheels could roll better
Bottom Line:
Awesome ride for the money. The 2005 model is full aero, vs the semi aero profile of the previous year's model.
The geometry isnt 100% tri, but its very close, make sure you try out the sizes around your "norm", as I could technically fit a 58, the 60 fits much better, after adjusting the seatpost and aero bars to a better aero position (79 degree seat tube angle w/ the saddle all the way forward)
I tested several tri bikes in the price including the Giant TCR Aero 2, Cannondale Ironman 600, and a Felt F-65. All the bikes were great but the Trek provided the smoothest ride of the bikes tested and in my opinion had the best frame.
