Strengths:    Price
Acceleration and handling
Comfortable geometry

Weaknesses:    Will eventually upgrade the wheels (they stay true but could be lighter)

Bottom Line:
I've been riding mountain bikes for a while but this is my first road bike and I love it. Not only is it practical (accepts 28c tires and has hidden fender mounts), it also handles very well and it is fast. It has the same exact geometry as the Cronus, which generally gets great reviews. Instead of being all carbon like the Cronus, the Ion has an aluminum main frame with a carbon fork and carbon stays.

The frame is laterally stiff due to the big bottom bracket and stays, which transfers all of your effort to the road for big acceleration yet the bike is not a jackhammer because the stays are carbon.

On 50 - 100 mile rides the bike is comfortable due to the more relaxed geometry although an all carbon frame or steel would probably smooth out road chatter a little better

Favorite Ride:   The one I am on

Price Paid:    $1500.00

Purchased At:   Freeze Thaw Cycles

Similar Products Used:   Scott CR1 Pro

Bike Setup:   The bike comes with Shimano Tiagra but I had ultegra and 105 components that I put on the bike. The bike I have is basically the ion pro minus the wheels
