Strengths: Buttery smooth ride, super light (14.2 lbs out of the box if bought from manufacturer), responsive, stable, FASTWeaknesses: Cost & availability. There are few U.S. dealers and if you were to buy this bike "out of the box," you are looking at close to $8,000. It is worth it, however, if you can afford it.Bottom Line: The shop I work for got a mad deal on a Xelius 900 frame/fork. They spec'ed it out with low-end Sram (Rival & Apex mixed) & basic seatpost, bars, wheels, & tires to basically get rid of leftover components. And that is a shame.
The person who buys this will have NO idea what a fantastic bike they are getting. Take the stiffness of a Specialized SL2, the attitude & speed of an Orbea Orca, and the comfort of a Bianchi 928, and you get the Xelius 900.
Taking the sub-standard components out of the equation, the bike is a dream. It climbs like a mountain goat & corners like a race car. If one were to add a carbon seatpost & handlebars, it would be even more comfortable of a ride--and that is saying a lot, given how good a ride the demo was.
The bike did everything I asked of it and I could tell it was willing to do more; I can only imagine what the bike would do with a great set of racing wheels and something like Sram Red or Shimano Dura Ace.
The design is subtle: Johnny Cash-black & silver, which may sound rather plain. However, when you look at the lines, you can see the artistry of it. However, I am fond of the understated look.
Similar Products Used: Have owned or test rode the following: Specialized SL2, Bianchi T-Cube 928, Orbea Orca, Giant TCR Advanced
