Strengths: All the details you want to know are in this book. You will be the undisputed expert among your friendsWeaknesses: The author expresses some "old school" opinions in the book that could have been left out.Bottom Line: There are only two books available on the subject of bicycle wheel building and this is one of them. The other is "The Art of Wheel Building" by Gerd Schraner. Brandt's book is well written and worth the money if you want to build your own wheels. To be really good at something, I think you need to know the details. If you read and understand this book, you will. Much of the engineering behind the bicycle wheel is described in detail. The entire process of building a wheel is described. This process includes selecting components to the final truing.
