California native Levi Leipheimer riding for Team Astana in 2008 stormed to victory for the second year in the most dramatic and exciting Tour of California yet. It was also one of the flashiest and PR-driven races in years as 40 year-old retired Italian Superstar Mario Cipollini returned to the peloton riding for Rock Racing. Cipo, Quick Step’s Tom Boonen and Paolo Bettini, CSC’s Fabian Cancellara and American stars George Hincapie and Christian Vandevelde a host of other big names were cheered by fans as they made their way south along the spectacular California coast.
